Citizens Theatre Share The Magic Of Christmas With Pay It Forward Campaign ImageThe Citizens Theatre is inviting audience members to help them share the magic of Christmas with its Pay It Forward campaign.

Following a successful campaign in 2017, audience members helped to raise £6,400 through donations with ticket purchases and bucket collections at performances. As a result more than 750 local primary school children will be able to attend A Christmas Carol at Tramway for just 50p per ticket in December 2018.

Children from local primary schools St Bride's Primary (Govanhill) and Blackfriars Primary (Gorbals), are amongst those who are attending this year thanks to the pay it forward appeal.

The theatre hopes to build on the success of the 2017 campaign and raise even more this Christmas with an ambitious target of £7,500. Reaching this target would mean almost 900 school children would benefit from a trip to the theatre in 2019.

Citizens Theatre Artistic Director, Dominic Hill, said:

"We want everyone to have access to high quality theatre and our Pay It Forward campaign helps break the down financial barriers that often make it impossible for teachers to organise a school trip at Christmas time. For many children it will be their first experience of visiting a theatre and we know the impact of that experience can be huge in their development. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference and I thank all of our audiences for supporting this year's appeal."

Those attending A Christmas Carol will be able to make a donation into special Pay It Forward buckets at the end of each performance at Tramway. Alternatively, patrons can opt in to donate when booking tickets or make a one off donation online https://uk.patronbase.com/_Citz/Products/Donate

The theatre also welcomes donations from local businesses and organisations. If you would like more information about how to get involved in the Pay It Forward campaign, contact Molly Ross, Development Assistant on molly.ross@citz.co.uk or 0141 418 2258.

A Christmas Carol by the Citizens Theatre, presented at Tramway is sponsored by Urban Union.
