Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee and New Act of the Year winner Bilal Zafar returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a brand new stand-up comedy show.
Social media has been taken over by Bots spreading hate, fear and influencing how we vote. In LOVEBOTS, Bilal has made his own bots to fight back, except these Bots only want to spread love and compassion. Delving into the world of this mysterious online power, join Bilal on his journey to find the positive side of this worrying phenomenon in a show that is guaranteed to be both fascinating and hilarious.
Bilal's first BBC Radio 4 stand-up special, Bilal Zafar's British Muslim Love was broadcast in May 2018. He has also appeared in Catastrophe (Channel 4), featured on BBC3, BBC Radio 5Live, BBC Asian Network and Sky News and written guest columns for The Independent and The Guardian.
Bilal Zafar's previous Edinburgh Fringe shows Cakes (2016) and Biscuit (2017) were extremely well received by press and audiences alike, both selling out their fringe runs before embarking on UK tours and Soho Theatre runs. His 2016 debut gained Bilal nominations for the Lastminute.com Best Newcomer Award and Chortle Best Newcomer. Bilal was also named 'top of the bill' winner at the 2016 NATYS and runner up in the 2015 Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year competition.
