Dreamboats and Miniskirts is the sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats. For anyone who hasn't seen the first musical, there is a brief recap at the beginning of this show which makes it a stand alone show.

Underneath the 38 songs (none performed in full) there is a very thin plot. After the success of their songwriting efforts in the previous show, Bobby and Laura appear on television performing their single only for the track to skip and they are caught miming. The pair are humiliated and their relationship can't handle the strain. Set in 1963 the tracks featured in Dreamboats and Miniskirts are the likes of "I Get Around", "It's In His Kiss" and "Twist and Shout" which are guaranteed to get toes tapping.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is relying on audiences being drawn in by the familiar songs, feel good story and occasionally witty script. The performers are capable and all of the vocals are high quality. They have used actor-musicians to play live onstage and in this instance it works really well.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is not exactly groundbreaking stuff. It is watchable, inoffensive and will make you smile but I doubt it will stay with you for very long after leaving the theatre.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is on tour around the UK.
