Celebrated comedian Abigoliah Schamaun returns to Edinburgh in 2017 with her unique brand of frank-yet-poignant comedy, on a mission to dissect mankind's relationship with wellness and happiness.

In Namaste, Bitches, Abigoliah paints a delightfully vivid story of her pursuit of enlightenment through physical fitness which began when she stepped in to a Bikram Yoga class at age 18.

Bikram's central theory is that enlightenment can only be achieved once you are at your physical peak; Abigoliah became hooked.

Soon she found herself training to be certified as a teacher herself at the Bikram's famously gruelling Teacher Training where, during the course, she became so dehydrated she had to be taken to hospital and put on an IV drip - hours later she was back practising.

In the last 10 years Abigoliah has taught classes across America, Australia and England; she's competed in The New York Asana Championship (a big yoga competition).

And her journey didn't just stop at yoga. Over the years, Abigoliah has found that she's been willing to do almost anything to attain that fickle mistress enlightenment. She's trained and competed in Crossfit competitions and immersed herself in extreme diets; all these things in the pursuit of that one goal.

It was only recently that Abigoliah realised: Bikram told her how to achieve enlightenment. But not what enlightenment actually is. And she's started to ask herself - why would anyone bother with all this when you're just as likely to find those sweet, sweet endorphins at the bottom of a pint glass?

What's the point in pursuing enlightenment when you could just put your feet up and knock back a bourbon?

Abigoliah is a UK-based comic, who hails from Greenville, Ohio and started her stand-up (and yoga) career while living in New York. She has been named one of the "Top 5 Up and Coming Female Comedians" by The List and this year Namaste, Bitches was named as "One to Watch for the Leicester Comedy Festival" by Beyond the Joke. She's won the Moth Story Slam in NYC and she has also been a guest on The Comedians' Comedian Podcast hosted by Stuart Goldsmith. She recently appeared in the 2nd season of Comedy Central's I Live with Models.

Namaste, Bitches is also the name of Abigoliah's popular podcast; a wellness podcast, where Abigoliah talks to fitness professionals, comics, and anyone with an opinion on how to live their best life.

This is a show for anyone who's paused on a treadmill or over a shot glass and wondered "wait...what am I doing?"
