I am very excited for the Scottish premiere of National Theatre's War Horse at Edinburgh's Festival Theatre running from January 22nd until February 15th. I cried at the book, I cried at the film and I am looking forward to crying at the stage show!
In February the West End production of Singin' In The Rain comes to Edinburgh's Festival Theatre from February 25th - March 15th. Starring Faye Tozer and using 12,000 litres of water in every performance the tour returns to Scotland from August 12th- August 23rd at Glasgow's Theatre Royal.
In May Wicked makes its Scottish debut at the King's Theatre in Glasgow. With a cast featuring Nikki Davis-Jones as Elphaba and Emily Tierney as Glinda it runs from May 6th- May 31st. It has also been announced that the tour will be returning to Scotland with a run at the Edinburgh Playhouse from November 19th 2014 - January 10th 2015.
After six years off the air Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill have announced they will be bringing their much loved comedy show Still Game back to the stage in 2014. Originally starting out as a live performance and developing into the hit BBC series the show went on indefinite hiatus after a fued between the two creators. Three dates were confirmed for Glasgow's new 12,000 seater arena The Hydro. Due to phenomenal demand, additional dates had to be added and they are now sitting with twenty one sold out performances. Not bad for a show that hasn't even been written yet!
And getting slightly ahead of myself- I am very excited for Edinburgh Fringe 2014. It runs from August 1st - August 25th with the full programme announcement sometime in the spring. The Edinburgh Fringe is the world's largest arts festival featuring thousands of performances from established acts and up and coming entertainers.
