Eight plays have been chosen for production at the annual Ten-Minute play festival at the Jane B. Cook Theatre, FSU Center for the Performing Arts. The plays are:
A VERY PRIVATE PERSON by Don Salvo of Celebration - Elizabeth MacKintosh is A Very Private Person. Although she uses a female pseudonym to write novels, in the 1930s she needs to use a male pseudonym in order to have her plays produced. When her newest novel is shortlisted for a prestigious award, she's faced with exposure. Based on true events.
ABDUCTION by Stephen Walkiewicz of Orlando - After having a bad date, Matthew is abducted by an alien that needs to do a DNA extraction to complete their cataloging job.
FEEL GOOD, INC. by Bernie Yanelli of Bradenton - The play offers social commentary about the absurdity of modern-day life in America. It pits a smarmy life coach against the wit and wisdom of Socrates and Plato, who have developed a real fondness for the offerings at In-N-Out Burger.
LOVE MY DOG, LOVE ME by Seva Anthony of Bradenton - Grace and Herbert are scheduled to meet for their first date at an expensive restaurant upon connecting from a dating site. The conversation starts on a precarious rocky start but, despite both having relationship baggage, they realize there may be a possible connection for compatibility since they both own dogs.
OUTCASTS AND REBELS by Marj O’Neill-Butler of Miami - Gram looks for and finds her granddaughter Cassie after she has gone missing for a day. Through questions and cajoling, Gram and Cassie find out they are very much alike.
SOMETHING IS ROTTEN ON THE STAGE OF GLENMARK by Ken Preus of Oviedo - An audition for Hamlet at Glenmark College goes comically awry becoming a matter of life and death… and afterlife.
STRANGERS OFF A TRAIN by Samara Siskind of Fort Lauderdale - Two strangers off a train. It's not about the destination, it's the people you meet on the way
THE INTERMISSION by Jan Wallace & Philippe Koenig, Sarasota - At the start of the intermission of a chamber music concert, three members of the quartet are concerned that their second violinist is missing. They have only ten minutes to either find him, replace him or some other alternative.
