Sarasota Opera Announces Casting For New Recital Series

Victor DeRenzi, Artistic Director, and Richard Russell, Executive Director, are pleased to announce the casting for Sarasota Opera's new Recital Series. The new series, which was inspired by the rich operetta and song traditions from around the world, will feature favorite artists performing opera, operetta, and art songs with piano accompaniment.

"Over the last 60 years, Sarasota Opera has grown along with its surrounding community. These concerts will give our audience another way to experience the Opera outside our Festival season. People will have a chance to hear some of Sarasota's favorite artists performing beloved music from all over the world," explained Artistic Director, Victor DeRenzi.

An Evening of Operetta at the Sarasota Opera House

Friday, December 14, 2018, 7:30 pm

Drawing from the European tradition of beloved operettas, this recital will feature soprano Hanna Brammer (Micaela in Carmen and Nuri in Tiefland), tenor Ben Gulley (Pedro in Tiefland), and baritone Sean Anderson (Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus). Tickets start at $10.

An Afternoon of Operetta at the Venice Performing Arts Center

Opera Composers in Song at the Sarasota Opera House

Great opera composers did not limit themselves to composing exclusively for the stage, having produced some of the most exquisite songs in the repertoire. Soprano Elizabeth Tredent (Violetta in La traviata, Fiora in The Love of Three Kings), tenor Matthew Vickers (Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Avito in The Love of Three Kings), and baritone Marco Nisticò (Giorgio Germont in La traviata, Amonasro in Aida) will bring you songs by celebrated opera composers. Tickets start at $10.

The Diamond Anniversary Recital at the Sarasota Opera House

2019 is Sarasota Opera's 60th anniversary season. To celebrate the occasion, four of our favorite principal artists will perform arias and ensembles with piano accompaniment, from operas produced at Sarasota Opera over the last 60 years. Sharing the Sarasota Opera stage will be Kara Shay Thomson, (Marta in Tiefland, Floria Tosca in Tosca), tenor Jonathan Burton (Carlos in Verdi's Don Carlos, Calaf in Turandot), baritone Marco Nisticò (Giorgio Germont in La traviata, Amonasro in Aida), and bass Young Bok Kim (Oroveso in Norma, Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville). Tickets for the recital start at only $10.

The celebration will be completed with a post-recital dinner at the Art Ovation Hotel. Tickets for The Diamond Anniversary Celebration are $295 per person. Celebration tickets include premium seating at the performance and the post-recital dinner at the Art Ovation Hotel.
