According to Diane Zorn, associate director of Continuing Studies & Special Programs at Ringling College, students of all ages and skill levels can expand their creative potential with more than 80 classes and workshops.
"Our classes offer innovative, studio-based learning for middle school and high school students, as well as beginner through advanced practicing artists. Students ages 11 and up will find inspiration, outstanding instruction and interdisciplinary opportunities in these engaging and educational classes," says Zorn, adding that Summer Studios are taught by expert artists and designers in state-of-the-art, professionally equipped facilities.
Zorn notes that students at Summer Studios can explore traditional art techniques, refresh existing skills, and master new methods in unique hybrid environments of digital and traditional media.
"They develop their creativity and critical thinking through shared learning experiences," she says. "The Summer Studios experience offers much more than technical instruction. The inspiration and camaraderie emboldens students to take their artistic practice to the next level."
Classes include fundamental skills development in drawing, and figure study essential to portfolio development, as well as painting, printmaking, and explorations in animation, cartooning, social media, photography, film and video production, digital media, and much more. Creative writing courses, such as "Creative Writing for Horror," "Image and Word," "Creative Writing for Comic and Graphic Novels," and "Creative Writing for Video Games," offer innovative insights into new media formats. Students can discover how to create books, experiment with the art of self-portraiture, learn how to digitally sculpt with Zbrush software, delve into experimental animation techniques, and learn the basics of photo management, enhancement, and publishing.
"Whatever direction your inner muse is leading you, we have the tools and the teachers to set you on your creative journey," says Zorn.
