PMP/Suncoast Presents Violinist Itzhak Perlman Image

The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast is excited to announce the Florida west coast premiere of Itzhak Perlman - In The Fiddler's House - A Night of Klezmer on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Tickets range from $43 to $152 and are available through the Van Wezel PAH Box Office beginning Friday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m.

Almost twenty-three years have passed since internationally-acclaimed violinist and conductor Itzhak Perlman made his iconic album of klezmer music, "In the Fiddler's House." In this upcoming live performance, Perlman revisits this meaningful, personal project, featuring the world-renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band, with members from the original recording, released in 1995. Repertoire will include songs from the album, along with a few surprises.

Joining Mr. Perlman on stage will be Hankus Netsky, Music Director, Saxophone and Piano; Andy Statman, Clarinet and Mandolin; members of the Brave Old World and Klezmer Conservatory Band; and other special guests.

"Quick-witted and humorous, Perlman's charming demeanor facilitated an evening of pure enjoyment for all, representative of the klezmer's purpose of bringing people together in celebration," hailed the Santa Barbara Independent following a sold-out show at Santa Barbara's Granada Theatre in 2017.

Itzhak Perlman is no stranger to audiences in Southwest Florida. In addition to an active concert career, he and his wife Toby Perlman, founder of The Perlman Music Program, along with their students, faculty and staff, have called the Suncoast their wintertime home-away-from-home for the past 14 years. This only area appearance of Itzhak Perlman - In The Fiddler's House will have the audience singing and dancing in the aisles - the perfect lead-in to the 15th PMP Sarasota Winter Residency anniversary celebration - December 20, 2018 through January 5, 2019.
