With Random, the company he founded more than 20 years ago, prodigiously gifted choreographer Wayne McGregor rocketed to world acclaim by fusing contemporary ballet and modern dance with cutting-edge technology. In the stunning, hour-long piece FAR, a superb score by Brian Eno-collaborator Ben Frost and jaw-dropping visuals, including a computerized pin board of 3,200 LED lights, are the catalysts for “blazing, mysterious” (The Observer, U.K.) movement exploration. Inspired by the Age of Enlightenment, as well as radical cognitive research, McGregor’s landmark choreography translates intellectual brilliance into persuasive, sensual dance that “glimmers with humanity” (The Independent, U.K.).
