PCPA Pacific Conservatory Theatre is thrilled to share three contemporary stories in a play reading format with the return of the popular InterPlay: Play Reading series, presented over the course of four days - September 19th though the 22nd in the Severson Theatre. All three fresh-picked plays had their world premieres in 2017.The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter plays Sept. 19 at 7pm and Sept. 22 and 1:30pm. The wedding cake wars hit home when promises, love, family, and frosting force two brides and one fabulous baker to re-examine their slice of life in this funny and timely play. Mary Jane by Amy Herzog plays Sept. 20 & 21 at 7pm. The miraculous and mundane, the impossible and the everyday, the heart beat and the heartbreak; Mary Jane is a beautiful, achingly human exploration of the immeasurable tenderness and tenacity of motherhood. Peerless by Jiehae Park will play Sept. 21 at 1:30pm and Sept. 22 at 7pm. Current university admission scandals pale in comparison to Parks edge-of-your-seat dark comedy. In this sinister and sublime modern nod to Macbeth, two sisters are willing to do anything to get into The College.Artistic Director Mark Booher says, Were really happy to continue to bring new theatrical voices to the cultural conversation on the Central Coast. Our audiences have come to expect both exemplary artistry on the production of established works, and vibrant explorations of the current state of the art. InterPlay is one of the ways in which we investigate scripts that weve found exciting on the page, while we deliver fresh ideas and encourage rich dialogue in this uniquely pleasurable form of hearing a play.Adult language/Mature themes
