The Duel. The Gypsy. The Gypsy’s Son. The Execution. In four parts, Verdi weaves together a tense drama of romance, mistaken identity, revenge and murder. A noble family is scarred by the tragic death of a cherished son at the hands of mysterious gypsy woman. Years later, two men, one the family’s royal son and the other a handsome troubadour, vie for the hand of Leonora. However the tragedy of the past will haunt the present in a plot filled with twists and turns and transcendently beautiful music. Il Trovatore features many of opera’s most beautiful and memorable melodies, from one of Verdi’s most spectacular tenor arias to the famous “Anvil Chorus.” Performed in Italian with English and Spanish subtitles at every seat.
Lobero Theatre is at 33 E Canon Perdido St, Santa Barbara, CA.
