At War With Ourselves: 400 Years of You at The Wallis

Kronos Quartet, in collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Tonality and National Book Award-winning poet Nikky Finney, will present Michael Abels' work "At War With Ourselves: 400 Years of You" at The Wallis on February 15, 2025. This evening-length song cycle incorporates Finney's evocative text to explore significant moments in African American history, addressing themes of race, justice, and civil rights. Conducted by Alexander Lloyd Blake, the performance promises a rich blend of music and poetry, creating an impactful narrative of identity and struggle for equality. The event marks the Los Angeles debut of new Kronos Quartet members Gabriela Díaz and Ayane Kozasa.
