Smuin brings Bay Area audiences a whole 'lotta heat with its annual yuletide dance treat, The Christmas Ballet. With ballet, tap, swing, and a wealth of other genres drawn from holiday traditions from around the world, this celebration showcases a variety of dance styles set to holiday classics and premieres new surprises each season.
The first act, Classical Christmas, presents dancers in snowy white performing timeless holiday favorites. The Cool Christmas second act features a red-hot costume change, with dancers performing a mash-up of modern numbers, including the iconic "Santa Baby." The Christmas Ballet will tour the Bay Area, beginning with shows in Walnut Creek, continuing in Carmel and Mountain View, and finishing up with its annual holiday run at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
