The author of "The Patron Saint of Liars,""Taft,""The Magician's Assistant,""Run,"and "State of Wonder"-as well as three books of nonfiction and essays- Ann Patchett has won the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Orange Prize, and numerous other honors for her work. Her writing has been translated into more than thirty languages, and she also edited the collection Best American Short Stories, 2006. And on top of all this, Patchett is a strong supporter of indie bookstores: she co-owns Parnassus Books in her hometown of Nashville. Patchett returns with a new book "Commonwealth", an enthralling story of how an unexpected romantic encounter irrevocably changes two families' lives. Spanning five decades, the novel explores how this chance encounter reverberates through the lives of the four parents and six children involved. Told with equal measures of humor and heartbreak, "Commonwealth" is a meditation on inspiration, interpretation, and the ownership of stories.

Named "Man of the Year" in the chef category by GQ Magazine in 1999, Mario Batali also won the James Beard Foundation's "Best Chef: New York City" award in 2002, and in 2005 the James Beard Foundation awarded Mario the designation "Outstanding Chef of the Year". Mario was also a recipient of the 2001 D'Artagnan Cervena "Who's Who of Food & Beverage in America," a prestigious food industry lifetime achievement award. An Emmy-winning host of ABC's The Chew, Batali's culinary empire includes 26 restaurants, 10 cookbooks (including the James Beard Award-winning Molto Italiano and America-Farm to Table), numerous TV shows, and three "Eataly" marketplaces. Batali's most ambitious cookbook to date, "Big American Cookbook: 250 Favorite Recipes from Across the USA" brings together the most delicious dishes from every corner of the Red, White, and Blue in this definitive guide to our country's cuisine.
