Kelrik Productions has announced the five productions that will comprise its winter/spring 2010 season. The season will include Seussical, Bye Bye Birdie, Oliver!, Cabaret, and Beauty and the Beast.

SEUSSICAL
SEUSSICAL the musical weaves together stories and characters drawn from fifteen beloved books by Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat is the emcee of this family-friendly show about the power of imagination and the importance of believing in yourself. Join him on a visit to the Jungle of Nool and the dust-speck planet of Who. This magical musical extravaganza brings to life favorite Dr. Seuss characters including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie la Bird, and Jojo, a little girl with a big imagination. The show will play at Unity, 1490 Southwood Drive, San Luis Obispo from February 20th to March 14th. Saturday performances will take place at 7pm, Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $12-$16 and and can be purchased by calling 805 543-PLAY (7529).

BYE BYE BIRDIE
Get ready to "Put on a Happy Face!" Kelrik returns to a simpler time in an all new production of the ultimate feel-good, Tony Award®-winning musical, BYE BYE BIRDIE. The MacAfee family (and all of Sweet Apple, Ohio) goes topsy-turvy when teen idol Conrad Birdie comes to town to serenade one lucky fan before he enters the Army. The exuberant rock 'n' roll score includes "The Telephone Hour" ("What's the story, morning glory? Did you hear they got pinned?"), "Kids" and "A Lot of Livin' to Do." With its enormous bounce and zest, BYE BYE BIRDIE is sure to be an audience favorite. Bye Bye Birdie will be performed at Spanos Theatre, Performing Arts Center, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA from March 26th through April 3rd. Performances will take place on Fridays at 7pm and on Saturdays at 2PM and 7PM. Tickets are $22.50 - $27.50 and can be purchased by calling 805 756-ARTS or visiting www.pacslo.org.

OLIVER!
"Consider Yourself" enchanted by Oliver! Hailed the world over as one of the best-loved family musicals of all time, Oliver brings to the stage some of Charles Dickens's most unforgettable characters along with one of Broadway's most memorable scores. Hits such as "Consider Yourself at Home," "Food, Glorious Food" and "Where Is Love" enliven this heartwarming tale of the young orphan Oliver Twist in an all new production of Lionel Bart's musical treasure. Oliver! will be performed from May 1st through the 16th at UNITY, 1490 Southwood Drive, San Luis Obispo on Saturdays at 2PM and 7PM, and on Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $12-$16 and and can be purchased by calling 805 543-PLAY (7529).

CABARET

"Wilkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome!" The decadent world of 1930s Berlin comes to life in this Tony Award-winning musical masterpiece. Based on Christopher Isherwood's novel Berlin Stories and John Van Druten's play I Am a Camera, CABARET follows an English nightclub singer, an American writer, a German landlady and a Jewish shopkeeper who find their destinies linked and their futures uncertain on the eve of the Third Reich. By turns defiant and melancholy, brazen and gleeful, CABARET sizzles with show-stopping songs, including "Willkommen," "Money, Money," "Don't Tell Mama" and the explosive title tune. Cabaret will be performed from June 4th through the 26th at UNITY, 1490 Southwood Drive, San Luis Obispo on Fridays and Saturdays at 7PM. Tickets are $12-$16 and and can be purchased by calling 805 543-PLAY (7529).

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Join Belle, a young woman from a small provincial town, as she meets a fearsome Beast, in reality a prince transformed by a magical spell cast on him as punishment for hardheartedness. If the Beast can learn to love and to be loved, the spell will be broken and he will be restored to his former self. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson, he will be doomed to remain a beast forever. "Be Our Guest" for a storybook theatrical experience your whole family will love! Beauty and the Beast will be performed from July 17th through the 25th at Spanos Theatre, Performing Arts Center, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA on Saturdays at 2pm and 7pm, and on Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $22.50 - $27.50 and can be purchased by calling 805 756-ARTS or visiting www.pacslo.org.

Kelrik's primary goal is to provide the highest quality children's/family theater featuring local talent. Each year the company presents new works as well as reviving old favorites that uphold the standards and visions of Kelrik: quality "edutainment," by which we mean theater which both educates and entertains. Myths, parables and fables have long been used to teach. Kelrik builds on this tradition, creating audience-pleasing productions which provide food for thought -- as well as being great fun!

As a company, Kelrik is dedicated to the growth of its actors, theater-goers, and the artistic medium in which they all connect. Kelrik's shows remain true to the stories on which they are based, often incorporating songs and scenes removed by other directors. Each features a talented cast of local actors, first-rate production values, and opportunities for audience interaction and participation.
