The Live At the Orinda concert season opens with a fundraising gala and the U.S. concert debut of Canadian singing sensation, Geneviève Leclerc! After starring as Fantine in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Misérables (both the US tour and the Toronto production with Ramin Karimloo - for which she received a Broadway World Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical), Geneviève Leclerc gained national attention and adoration when she soared all the way to the finals in the hit Canadian TV show, The Voice (La Voix). Oscar, Grammy and Tony winning composer Michel Legrand was so impressed that he invited Geneviève as his special guest on what would be his final concert tour in Russia.
Geneviève Leclerc brings to mind such legendary artists like Barbra Streisand, Dame Shirley Bassy, Dalida, Lara Fabian, Celine Dion - not because she sounds anything like them, but like them, she has a transcendent quality and power in her voice, an inherent intelligence in her choice of material, and she approaches songs as an actor immersing herself in a role. With several albums to her credit, whether singing in French or English, jazz, Broadway, standards or pop, Geneviève has the innate ability to make songs uniquely her own - not only with her intense and powerful voice and creative arrangements, but she connects to whatever she's singing in such an authentic way, that it feels like she's living and breathing the story of the song in real time.
"Geneviève's voice was so powerful she could've broken all the wine glasses of the audience" - Le Journal de Québec
"Her appearance on The Voice revealed this is an artist of Streisand's caliber. Powerful and vulnerable, Geneviève Leclerc fully inhabits her songs." - Culture 3R
"Geneviève Leclerc has an exceptional voice, whose quality and power are between Barbra Streisand and Nicole Croisille. Incredible singer!" - Échos Vedette
"Geneviève Leclerc defines vocal elegance in a modern way that has enthralled audiences since she first appeared on The Voice. She can be contemporary but the approach to her work seems timeless and establishes a delicate musical intimacy." - Stingray Music
