The play opens with our young hero, Will Carew, being strapped to four horses, which, at any second, will be sent hurdling off in all four directions. He speaks what we think are his last words, unfolding a tale of intrigue, villainy, murder, corruption, and revenge – and that’s just in the first three pages! Set in London in the 1750s, Kite’s Book by Robert Caisely is a sword-slinging, pistol-dueling, maiden-saving, jolly good time, with a fervent and poignant examination of the many variations on, and the disparities within, the human ideal that “Justice must be served!”
