Following the success of the fifth FURY Factory festival of ensemble theater, foolsFURY is proud to announce the world premiere of Faulted, a play written by Angela Santillo and directed by Evren Odcikin. Faulted is an ode to California in all its mysterious, tectonic, plate-shifting contradictions. Epic and romance, vegan and carnivore, West side and Central Valley combine under the sign of the next "Big One," just looming under the horizon. Faulted opens in previews tonight, November 14 at the Thick House in San Francisco, and runs for three weeks through December 7.

The mighty San Andreas Fault has woken up and set his eyes on Los Angeles, home to an earth empath named Aurora. Sitting in her trailer, Aurora can hear and sometimes see seismic activity before it registers on the finely tuned scientific instruments at nearby Caltech. Mitch, a graduate student at Caltech's Seismological Laboratory, has been sent to collect data about Aurora. Their meeting turns out to be much more than a collision between the worlds of science and New Age belief. Attended by a chorus of godlike figures embodying California's fault lines, Aurora must convince Mitch to trust her predictions before it's too late.

"Faulted is a darkly funny and surreal work by a compelling new voice in the American theater," says foolsFURY Co-Artistic Director Ben Yalom. Equal parts Los Angeles culture, natural science and folklore, the play offers the company a fresh opportunity to showcase the range of performance styles and the inventive physical language it's known for.

Santillo is an associate artist with foolsFURY. Currently based in New York, she grew up in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. In San Francisco she most recently performed in Epic Frame's debut The Unfelt Wonder, a one-woman show that Santillo also wrote. The play was presented as part of this year's FURY Factory festival. In 2012 Santillo delighted audiences as a tap-dancing cruise passenger in foolsFURY's Port Out, Starboard Home.

Faulted is directed by Odcikin whose recent credits include Christopher Chen's Mutt: Let's All Talk About Race for Impact Theatre and Ferocious Lotus; 410[GONE] by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig; and Jonas Hassen Khemiri's Invasion! for Crowded Fire Theater. In 2013 Theatre Bay Area honored Odcikin with a Titan Award, given each year to exceptional theater artists who complete the organization's career training program.

FoolsFURY Co-Artistic Director Deborah Eliezer stars as Aurora in Faulted. She's joined by actors Gustavo Alonso, Paul Collins, Joan Howard, Grace Ng and Michael Uy Kelly. Faulted's creative team includes Noor Adabachi (scenic design) and Huy Kim Tran (costume design).
