We Players will present a new project called KING FOOL this fall. This newest site-integrated production will be shared with exclusive audiences in an array of public and private venues across the Bay Area. Inspired by Shakespeare's King Lear, We Players' production will run September 5 - 28, 2014. Tickets will be on sale at www.WePlayers.org on July 1st.

The King and his Fool wander through time and space, telling old stories, playing all the parts, reliving their miseries and finding humor in the face of horror. This two-person production-in-progress features We Players Founding Artistic Director Ava Roy and Associate Artist John Hadden. The two recently played Lear and Cordelia/Fool, and co-directed a full production of the play on the east coast, and are continuing their exploration of this epic text as part of We Players' Small Works Presenting Series. The performance location is set to change every time We Players shares the piece with audience. This is a new experiment in the company's site-integrated theatre practice, responding to the intricacies of the environment in a more rapid-cycle fashion, but with the same attention to detail that We Players brings to their full-scale outdoor traveling productions. We Players is excited to dive into this new exploration of play and place as the King and his Fool encounter new locations in this uncharted adventure.

San Francisco Magazine recently honored We Players with the "Best of the Bay" pick for their unique site-specific performance work and declared, "We Players didn't just break the fourth wall, it toppled the whole playhouse". According to Managing Director Lauren D. Chavez, "We Players' mission is to create site-integrated performances that transforms public spaces into realms of participatory theatre, in an effort to engage with history and the environment, build community, and inspire personal relationships with place." We Players is a Bay Area arts non-profit that was founded in 2000 at Stanford University by Ava Roy, and has been managed by Ava Roy and Lauren Dietrich Chavez since 2009.
