TheatreWorks presents the Northern California Premiere of Joanna McClelland Glass' Trying, directed by Jack Fletcher, plays March 7 through April 1 (opening March 10) at TheatreWorks.
"Inspired by the playwright's own experiences, Trying, a finalist for the 2005 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, is the story of 81-year-old blue-blood American icon Francis Biddle, Attorney General under President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Chief American Judge of the Nuremberg trials, and the fresh-faced prairie populist from Saskatchewan hired to help him with his memoirs," states press notes, "As the two struggle to find a way to communicate, their mercurial relationship, wrought with paper, tears, and iron-will, blossoms into an undying friendship. Acclaimed Broadway and Bay Area actor Ken Ruta stars as the elegant and irritable Biddle in this richly scripted tour-de-force."
Previews: March 7, 8 & 9. Opening: Saturday, March 10 with performances through Sunday, April 1.
Show times: Previews at 8PM; Tuesdays at 7:30PM (no performance March 27); Wednesdays – Fridays at 8PM; Saturdays at 2 & 8PM (8PM only March 10 & 31); Sundays at 2 & 7PM (2PM only April 1).
