TheatreWorks Around the World will take place Saturday, November 4 at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club, 2900 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park. The TheatreWorks Around the World committee has prepared a euphoric voyage around the globe to ensure a memorable evening that will raise funds to help the company continue to present productions of artistic excellence, bring arts education to the community, and develop new plays and musicals that become part of the canon of American theatre. TheatreWorks Around the World will include an original musical revue directed by founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley. In addition, there will be a live auction of fabulous trips, including an opportunity to enter the $10,000 Dining & Shopping Experience Raffle by Stephen Silver, one of America's leading time piece and jewelry houses. Tickets include a fabulous hosted cocktail hour with sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, gourmet dinner accompanied by impeccable J. Lohr wines, and the exhilarating Dessert Dash in which guests vie for lavish culinary creations.
The TheatreWorks Around the World committee consists of eighteen amazing individuals who have spent countless hours bringing this journey to life. These individuals are Cindi Sears (chair) of Portola Valley; Jayne Booker, Julie Kaufman, and Doug Klein of Atherton; Jane Weston of Emerald Hills; Cabell Chinnis and Anne Hambly of Los Altos; Lynn Szekely-Goode, Gayla Lorthridge Wood, and Walt Wood of Los Altos Hills; Mark Lewis and Barbara Shapiro of Menlo Park; Nancy Ginsburg Stern and Rick Stern of Palo Alto; Ciro Giammona, Eileen Giammona, and Carolyn Schutz of Redwood City; and Judy Heyboer of San Francisco.
Along with a fine dining experience, gala attendees will be treated to a special musical revue conceived and directed by TheatreWorks Artistic Director Robert Kelley, featuring an original song by Broadway composer and supporter of TheatreWorks, Andrew Lippa. Inspired by one of this year's holiday productions (Around the World in 80 Days), this revue will give audience members the opportunity to travel around the world without having to pack a bag.
With some 100,000 patrons per year, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley has captured a national reputation for artistic innovation and integrity, often presenting Bay Area theatre-goers with their first look at acclaimed musicals, comedies, and dramas, directed by award-winning local and guest directors, and performed by professional actors cast locally and from across the country.
