TheatreWorks 2010-2011 Season To Include [TITLE OF SHOW], 39 STEPS, & More

TheatreWorks, the nationally-acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, has announced the line-up for its 2010-2011 season. Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Managing Director Phil Santora announced a 41st season that will include three world premieres (bringing the company's total to 56); three regional premieres including the newest play by the author of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Broadway's quirky hit musical about writers writing a quirky hit musical and a spell-binding mystery about a Japanese-American veteran charged with murder; and two Broadway favorites. The company will once again lead off with an extensive New Works Festival.

The line-up for 2010-2011 will launch in July with the World Premiere of Laura Schellhardt's comedy about a family of professional auctioneers, AUCTIONING THE AINSLEYS, which was workshopped at TheatreWorks' 2009 New Works Festival and is now making its debut on TheatreWorks' mainstage. Two other World Premieres on the season will be the holiday musical A CHRISTMAS MEMORY, based on the short story by Truman Capote, with book by Duane Poole, music by Broadway's Larry Grossman, and lyrics by Carol Hall (BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS); and the psychological thriller THE NORTH POOL by Rajiv Joseph (ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER), which also workshopped at TheatreWorks' 2009 New Works Festival. TheatreWorks will bring to the Bay Area the Regional Premieres of the delicious Broadway treat SUPERIOR DONUTS by Tracy Letts (AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY), Kevin McKeon's unforgettable mystery SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS, and the hilarious hit musical about writing a hilarious hit musical [TITLE OF SHOW] with book by Hunter Bell and music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen; plus the uproarious spoof THE 39 STEPS, a brilliant adaptation by Patrick Barlow of the 1935 Hitchcock film; and the Tony Award-winning musical romance THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA with book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel. Five productions will be mounted at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and three will be staged at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre.

The season will launch with the return of TheatreWorks' celebrated New Works Festival, where Festival Pass holders may view works-in-progress by leading playwrights and composers, participate in discussions, and attend workshops, book-in-hand readings, and sing-throughs of new musicals. The highlight of the New Works Festival will be the World Premiere of AUCTIONING THE AINSLEYS on the mainstage.
