The RRazz Room, San Francisco's premier nightclub, will present the Bay Area debut of "Jim Caruso's Cast Party" tonight, November 6 at 8:00 PM. "Jim Caruso's Cast Party" is a wildly popular weekly event that has been bringing a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night for the past nine years. The hilariously impromptu evening has also been celebrating local talent across the country, in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Cleveland, Austin, Orlando, Pittsburgh, and on the high seas.
Showbiz superstars are known to hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. The buoyant, sharp and charming Jim Caruso guides the entire affair like a bubbly cruise director, musical genius Tedd Firth holds court at the ivories, and the audience is invited to participate in the festivities! It's the party that would happen if somehow David Letterman and Ed Sullivan threw a hip house party around a grand piano! For more information, visit www.CastPartyNYC.com.
Performers interested in taking part in the evening should email the host at caruso212@aol.com. Be prepared to bring sheet music (in the correct key) for an upbeat song. There will also be several slots available for last-minute participants – doors will open at 7:00 PM for sign-up.
Jim Caruso made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in the Tony Award-winning Liza's At The Palace!, singing, dancing and celebrating the music and arrangements of Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. He has won six MAC Awards for his nightclub appearances, performed with the New York Pops in a tribute to Kander & Ebb, with Rosemary Clooney celebrating Bing Crosby, and sang songs of Hope & Crosby with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall. Jim was honored to sing with Barbara Cook at President Clinton's First State Dinner at the White House. His two CDs, The Swing Set and Caruso Live and In Person are available online. For nine years, he has hosted the weekly showbiz bash "Jim Caruso's Cast Party" at Birdland and across the country, and performs at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel.
