Magic Theatre continues its 2007-08 Season of New Plays with a world premiere play by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rebecca Gilman, The Crowd You're In With directed by Gilman's long-time collaborator and Magic Theatre favorite Amy Glazer.
The Crowd You're In With is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award and performs November 10 - December 9 at Magic's Sam Shepard Theatre (Bldg D, Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, CA at Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St.). Tickets are $20-$45 and will be available at 415-441-8822 or www.magictheatre.org.
A backyard barbeque is the perfect place to tackle the big questions: Is the chicken done? Will the weather hold up? Is it the right time to have a baby? Gilman's fresh and moving new play takes a close look at modern families, friendships, and whether sometimes two people in love just might be enough.
The production team for The Crowd You're In With features set designer Erik Flatmo (The Joan Rivers Theatre Project, God of Hell, Luminescence Dating, Hopper Collection), light designer Kurt Landisman (The Joan Rivers Theatre Project, God of Hell, The Sweetest Swing in Baseball), costume designer Meg Neville, and sound designer Sara Huddleston (The Joan Rivers Theatre Project, Expedition 6).
The cast includes Bay Area favorites Lorri Holt, Kevin Rolston, Makela Spielman, T. Edward Webster, Allison Jean White, and Chris Yule and features Charles Shaw Robinson in his first role back in the Bay Area after his acclaimed portrayal of Eurydice's father in Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice at Berkeley Rep, Yale Rep, and most recently during an extended run at Second Stage in New York City.
