Explore the music, dance, folktales and traditions of old Bavaria at The 24th Annual Christmas Revels: 10 performances: December 11-20 at the Scottish Rite Theater, Oakland
Celebrate the holidays with family and friends at the 24th annual Christmas Revels at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center. This year's homage to the frosty season will feature music, dance and folklore from 19th century Bavaria as Revels explores the very roots of modern Christmas.
The darkest time of the year casts a powerful spell over nearly every culture in the northern hemisphere and has given birth to countless ways of celebrating the winter solstice. Many of our present-day holiday rituals in this country originate in the Nordic/German traditions and come flavored with the spices of Europe. We invite you to take a little journey with us to Bavaria and the surrounding regions at Yuletide to explore the roots of modern Christmas with song, dance, storytelling, and the blessings of children and laughter.
