TAO: The Art of the Drum, will be performing at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 11 at 7:00 PM. With hundreds of sold-out shows and more than four million spectators, TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the traditional art of Japanese drumming, has massive international appeal.
Tickets for this performance range from $20 to $50. A 15% discount is available for groups of 15 or more. For tickets or more information, visit www.galloarts.org or call (209) 338-2100.
The stars of TAO live and train at a compound in the mountains of Japan, reaching the highest level of virtuosity only after years of intensive study. The performers each bring nontraditional flair to the group by drawing on their diverse backgrounds: one as a hard rock musician, another a gymnast, and yet another as a composer. They offer a young and vibrantly modern take on a traditional art form.
Since it’s formation in Aichi, Japan in 1993, TAO has been seen in 17 countries and 400 cities across the globe. Adorn across the world, they present an unprecedented and timeless drumming performance, bringing a brand new genre to the stage.
This production is sponsored by Brenden Mann Foundation. The Gallo Center for the Arts’ 2011-12 Premier Partner is Boyett Petroleum.
