Aspiring stars-to-be from South Bay area high schools will be showcased in a gala evening celebrating their achievements in musical theatre. On May 29, Star One Credit Union presents American Musical Theatre of San Jose's High School Musical Theatre HONORS program onstage at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts beginning at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now.

The one-night ceremony spotlights students from 31 area high school theatre programs showcasing their creative efforts. The evening's performance features complete musical numbers from 12 high school productions as well as two show-stopping medleys spotlighting the top

Male and Female Vocalists. In addition, an assortment of local political figures, media personalities and theatre professionals will participate in the proceedings.

As part of the High School Musical Theatre HONORS program, musical productions from the participating schools were reviewed and critiqued on an individual basis by theatre professionals. After oral critique sessions and discussions, each school received participation certificates for the entire cast/crew, as well as outstanding certificates for certain categories within the production.

This spectacular evening has been created and coordinated by AMTSJ's Department of Education & Outreach. This year Star One Credit Union is the events' sole sponsor.
