Sonoma State University's Dept. of Theatre Arts & Dance presents "The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek," by Naomi Wallace, today, October 16-25. Ken Sonkin directs this dark and edgy coming-of-age story. Set in a small rural town during the Great Depression, two teenagers seek adventure and escape by racing trains.

Physically and psychologically trapped in a town blanketed with despair, poverty and isolation cause several characters to unravel as a tragic, gender twisting mystery unfolds. Playwright Naomi Wallace provides an unsentimental and uncensored portrait of the lives and struggles of the working class, frustrated by their inability to change their circumstances.

A post-show discussion will follow the 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 performance. The Friends and Family night performance is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 when SSU Faculty, Staff and Students are admitted FREE and general, senior and visiting student audiences are admitted for $5. Proceeds from the Saturday, Oct. 25 closing night performance benefit the SSU Theatre Arts & Dance scholarship fund.
