University Theatre is pleased to present "Book of Days", written by Lanford Wilson. This Fresno premiere is directed by J. Daniel Herring and runs March 22 -30, 2019 in the Dennis & Cheryl Woods Theatre in the Speech Arts building on the campus of Fresno State.

Reminiscent of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town", "Book of Days" focuses on the small town of Dublin, Missouri. The town is dominated by three institutions: a cheese plant, a fundamentalist church, and a community theatre.

When murder roars through the town, Ruth Hoch begins her own quest to find truth and honesty amid small town jealousies, religion, greed, and lies. Lanford Wilson uses note perfect language to create characters that are remarkable both for their comic turns and for their enormous depth. This tornado of a play propels you through its events like a page-turning mystery.

"'Book of Days' depicts a small Missouri town on a collision course comprised of religion, politics, secrets, and scandal," says Herring. "Judgements are made and justice is at stake. Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we shake our heads in disbelief at the events in today's world, just as the residents of Dublin, Missouri."

The cast of Fresno State students includes Arium Andrews, Diego Barba, Alyssa Benitez, Kai DiMino, Jimmy Haynie, Sebastian Huerta-Alvarado, Cassidy LeClair, Erik Olson, Evangelia Pappas, Madeline Rydberg, Joshua Taber, and Andrew Trevino
