B Street Theatre is pleased to announce Sexy Laundry by Canadian playwright Michele Rimi as its next Mainstage offering.
Sexy Laundry follows Alice (Kathy Morison) and Henry (Rod Gnapp) as they try to breaThe Life into their suffocated marriage. Their plan is simple: check into a swanky hotel, and make love. A lot of love.
But 25 years of marriage has created more rust than can be shaken off in a weekend of frolic. Despite their best efforts, Alice and Henry's plan quickly finds the darkest corner of their marriage where a simple question hides: is it worth it?
Sexy Laundry was given its American premiere last year in Hollywood at the Hayworth Theatre, and featured film and television stars Francis Fisher as Alice and Paul Ben-Victor as Henry.
Michele Riml is a critically acclaimed playwright from Vancouver, British Columbia. Her plays have been produced across Canada and in the US including the Globe Theatre, The Grand, the Arts Club Theatre and the Belfry. Other plays include Miss Teen, Under The Influence, RAGE (winner of the 2005 Sydney Risk prize for Outstanding Original Play) and the acclaimed Poster Boys, which premiered at the Arts Club Theatre in 2008. Her plays for young audiences, commissioned by Green Thumb Theatre for Young People, include Cool, Invisible Girl, The Skinny Lie and Tree Boy. Michele was nominated for the 2008 Siminovitch Prize.
Sexy Laundry will feature B Street Company member Kathy Morison as Alice. Ms. Morison most recently appeared in the B Street production of Little Dog Laughed.
Rod Gnapp, appearing as Henry, is making his B Street debut. Mr. Gnapp has appeared in dozens of plays in the Bay Area including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre and TheatreWorks. B Street Artistic Director Buck Busfield directs.
