San Jose's premiere political satire, MNL! is an equal opportunity offender skewering local politicians and celebrities through fun, fantasy and fiction, while celebrating their hidden talents and current affairs. Last year's election year event featured the "Lame Duck Dynasty" kinfolk and the staging of Bonnie & Clyde - A New Musical in guns a'blazin' and shoot'em up style. This year's epic event promises to top last year as an unforgettable evening of lambasting laughter and scintillating satire.
"MNL! has become a much anticipated tradition of celebration for the arts and political communities," said Dennis Martin, board president of San Jose Stage Company and co-chair of the event with Jerry Strangis. The monies raised from this sellout evening provide funds to support The Stage's award-winning programming of high-quality, high-performance, high-impact theatre."
Previous hosts of MNL! have included San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, Board President of the Santa Clara County Supervisors Dave Cortese, Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez, former San Jose Mayors Chuck Reed, Ron Gonzales, Susan Hammer and Tom McEnery, Sheriff Laurie Smith, San Jose Councilmember Margie Matthews, former Councilmembers Pete Constant, Charlotte Powers and Forrest Williams, California State Senator James Beall, California State Assemblymember Nora Campos, former Santa Clara County District Attorney Dolores Carr, and Building Trades Council CEO Neil Struthers.
The catered reception and pre-show cocktail party begins at 5 p.m. in The Stage's courtyard. The show starts at 7 p.m.
