The 23rd Annual San Francisco Fringe Festival closed on a high note with the selection of thirteen shows as "Best of the San Francisco Fringe." This year's festival featured a total of 35 shows and included a wide variety of subjects and styles, from sketch comedy to Russian-style Vaudeville. Winners were chosen on the basis of audience reactions and attendance. The San Francisco "Fringe" is held at EXIT Theatre, 156 Eddy Street in Downtown San Francisco.

An Evening of Sebastion Boswell III - Sebastian Boswell III - San Francisco

And She Bakes Live - Daliya Karnofsky - New York, NY

Assorted Domestic Emergencies - Frank & Frederick - San Francisco

Ballet Russe Spectacle Variété - Ballet Russe - Millbrae

Blues for Charles - Harry Hall - San Mateo

Cabaret Terrarium - Richard Harrington & Chris Kauffman - New York, NY

Campo Maldito - Jesca Prudencio & Bennett Fisher - San Francisco
Ceremony - Michael Kass - Los Angeles

Deal with the Dragon - Kevin Rolston - San Francisco

In My Mother's Name - Polina Smith - San Francisco

Life Audited. - Steve Mize - Los Angeles

The Oy of Sex - Alicia Dattner - San Francisco

Three of the 13 shows were chosen for special encore performances:

Ceremony, a solo show featuring Los Angeles storyteller Michael Kass. A tale of searching for oneself in the mountains of Peru with the aid of a shaman and a noxious tea.

An Awkward Sensation, physical comedy by San Francisco-based Kurt Bodden and Allison Daniel. Sixteen rapid-fire sketches with puppets, mime, and a very awkward ballet.

Assorted Domestic Emergencies, two one-act plays, "Blizzard," by Linda Ayres-Frederick and "The Plumber" by Nancy Cooper Frank. Both are San Francisco playwrights. Both plays were directed by Joe Weatherby.
