Russ Lorenson Celebrates the Holidays With CHRISTMAS IN SAN FRANCISCO, 12/23

Russ Lorenson, singer of jazz, standards and pop, plays The Rrazz Room, Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, SF, Wednesday, December 23, for his annual holiday concert.

Russ Lorenson and his special guests Carly Ozard, SuzAnna Smith and Jonathan Poretz, celebrate a jazzy Christmas, San Francisco style! There is something for everyone in this swinging evening of jingle jazz. Russ has established a reputation as one of the Bay Area's leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop - the very essence of the Great American Songbook.

Carly Ozard, a classically-trained mezzo-soprano, was recently named San Francisco's Best New Cabaret Performer of 2009 for her critically-acclaimed cabaret debut, "Bitter and Be Gay!" Carly recently followed this with a new show, "Bewitched, Bothered and Bipolar," continuing her comic observations on the trials of life as a single woman in San Francisco. Carly has appeared to great acclaim on stages across the Bay Area, most notably in "The Golden Apple" at 42nd Street Moon, "Carousel" at The Lamplighters, and as Sally in "Follies in Concert."

SuzAnna Smith is an emerging talent on the Bay Area jazz scene. With sparkling charm, a golden tone and an innate sense of swing, Suzanna joyfully brings classic jazz standards to life. Suzanna has developed a sound and style that is totally unique.

Jazz recording artist Jonathan Poretz appears regularly throughout the Bay Area, and has headlined major jazz venues. Jonathan was singled out by Bay Area jazz critic Jim Harrington as the "best of the lot for bringing down the house." In addition to performing his own brand of jazz standards, Jonathan portrays Frank Sinatra in the long-running show, "The Rat Pack is Back." He also stars in "A Swingin' Night at the Sands."
