Bold, beautiful, and fierce, Pulitzer-nominee Dael Orlandersmith comes to Berkeley Rep to perform the world premiere of her new script: Black n Blue Boys / Broken Men. In this powerful play, she portrays five different male characters raised in tough circumstances. The show is staged by Obie Award-winning director Chay Yew and opens tomorrow, May 30, running through June 24. See photos of Orlandersmith on stage below!
The show is designed by Daniel Ostling (sets) with Anita Yavich (costumes), Ben Stanton (lights), and Mikhail Fiksel (sound). The production plays Berkeley Repertory Theatre's Thrust Stage located at 2025 Addison Street at Shattuck, Berkeley, Calif., according to the following schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays @ 8:00 PM; Wednesdays @ 7:00 PM; Saturdays @ 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; Sundays @ 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Special events include pre-show docent talks, Tuesdays 6/5, 6/12 & 6/19 and Thursdays 5/31, 6/7, 6/14 & 6/21@ 7:00 PM, and post-play discussions, held Thursday 5/31, Friday 6/8, and Tuesday 6/12 @ 8:00 PM.
Tickets are $14.50 - $73 (subject to change). Half-price tickets available for anyone under 30 years of age. $10 discount for students and seniors one hour before curtain.
