Cinnabar Theater presents Candide by Leonard Bernstein / Based on the Voltaire novel from March 20 - April 12 at the Cinnabar Theatre. Set to Leonard Bernstein's glorious music, this comic opera of Voltaire's satirical masterpiece tells of the hilarious, international adventures of the hopelessly optimistic Candide who's determined to follow his instructor's creed of mindless idealism. After being banished, abused and torn repeatedly from the woman he loves, Candide perseveres, fortified and inspired by the philosophy that everything is for the best in "the best of all possible worlds." Travel with Candide on a trip where sophisticated opera meets wacky screwball comedy.

The show is Directed by Elly Lichenstein / Musical Direction by Nina Shuman.

The cast of 34 is lead by Will Hart Meyer of Rohnert Park as Candide and Sheila Willey of Santa Cruz as Cunegonde.

The only Sonoma County venue presenting opera, chamber music, musical and dramatic theater, dance and special events, the Cinnabar Theater strives to present the finest experimental and traditional performing arts in an intimate and ultimately passionate and meaningful manner, with the purpose of keeping us all in touch with what it means and what it takes to be a human being.

TICKETS: $32 to $35
Seniors & students $32 / General $35
Cinna Dinner event on March 21, 2009 cost an additional $40.
