The Palace of Fine Arts League announced today the appointment of Mark Heiser as the historic Palace of Fine Arts Theatre's new Managing Director. Located in San Francisco's Marina District, the 962 seat theatre is one of the Bay Area's pre-eminent entertainment and performance venues. Celebrating its centennial this year, Heiser joins the Palace of the Fine Arts Theatre on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 with a wealth of experience in theater management, having managed theaters from coast to coast.

Palace of the Fine Arts League Board of President, Michael Luckoff said, "With great excitement and enthusiasm, the Board of Directors welcomes Mark Heiser back to the San Francisco Bay Area as the new Managing Director. This magnificent iconic theater is the home to many Bay Area civic organizations and dance groups. In honor of this centennial year, the theater is undergoing improvements throughout the venue. We look forward to expanding the offerings and services of the theater under Mark's direction."

Since 2003, Heiser has been the Managing Director of the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, home of the New York City Ballet. Before managing the Koch, he was the General Manager of Cal Performances at the University of California, Berkeley. Heiser received his master's degree in Dramatic Art from UC Davis and graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor's degree in Drama. He has extensive experience in performing arts - as an actor, stagehand, production manager, stage manager and general manager. Heiser has written articles for a number of industry periodicals including Theatre Design & Technology and Facility Manager.

Says Heiser, "I'm delighted to join the Palace of Fine Arts, and to return home to the Bay Area after 12 years at Lincoln Center. I am joining the Theatre in time to participate in the yearlong celebration of the 100 year history of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. This moment in time promises to be a tremendous opportunity for me and for the League, as we pay respect to the past and look forward to the future."
