Broadway San Jose, a partnership between the Nederlander Organization of New York and Team San Jose, announced the six shows in its 2013-14 Season today at an event attended by approximately 500 Subscribers and community leaders at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts in downtown San Jose. Headlining the Broadway San Jose season will be a three-week run of WICKED, the Tony Award winning musical that maintains its position as the top selling musical on Broadway, nine years after its premiere.
The fifth Broadway San Jose season will start in October of 2013 with the Bay Area exclusive engagement of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, followed by a new revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic EVITA in November. The first show of 2014 will be a multi-media tribute to chart-topping, Grammy-Award-winning The Bee Gees, with a unique tribute performance titled THE AUSTRALIAN BEE GEES SHOW; followed by a musical tribute to Webber, Broadway's most beloved composer, beginning in May. Coming in July is the blockbuster JERSEY BOYS, the rags-to-rock-to-riches story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.THE Nederlander Organization is a New York-based company prominent for three generations in the ownership of theatres and the production of distinguished theatrical and concert presentations. Priscilla Queen of the Desert is the most successful Australian musical of all time, had its world premiere in Sydney in 2006. It is adapted from the 1994 Academy Award winning film The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
