Check out what's playing at Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater next month!
Sat 9/9 3rd Annual Napa Valley Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering (7p)($20)
Tix reservations: lincolntheater.com
In this 3rd annual show at Lincoln Theater, hear from musicians, poets, and storytellers as they share their experiences of hard work and emotion on the Western terrain. Started three decades ago, The Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering began as a place for cowboys and ranchers to share poems about their lives. Experience Cowboy Poetry and get a taste of the West as part of National Cowboy Poetry Gathering on the Road. What was once labeled as a tribe is now a nation of artisans who share their love of Western cowboy culture. Declared by journalists as "the most honest and open-hearted festival in America" and described by ranchers as "the highest concentration of lies in any one place at any one time" audiences are in for a treat! Taking the stage this year will be Gail Steiger, Caitlyn Taussi, Amy Hale Auker and Ramblin' Jack
PLEASE NOTE: This show will be at CIA at Copia (500 1st St. Napa CA 94559) beginning at 6pm.
Sat 9/16 Willie K at CIA at Copia (6p)($35) Tix reservations: lincolntheater.com
PLEASE NOTE: This show will be at CIA at Copia (500 1st St. Napa CA 94559) beginning at 6pm.
Willie K - that's "K" for Kahaialii - is, in the words of the Honolulu Weekly, "an amazing guitar virtuoso, a Hawaiian Jimi Hendrix; he's Gabby Pahinui, Andres Segovia, and Eddie Van Halen rolled into one. Willie can mimic seemingly any style, moving easily between screaming Stratocaster, sweet slack key, and jazzy, almost baroque, acoustic 12-string." Besides being a guitar wizard, he also sings and writes gorgeous originals, from rocking blues to tender ballads in the traditional Hawaiian style. Since releasing his debut album in 1992, he has won more than a dozen, Na Hoku Hanohano awards, the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammy.

So what exactly is "Shop with a Cop Napa"? The proceeds of this event make our holiday event sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Greater Napa, Napa Target Store #1026, and Napa Police Department Youth Services Bureau possible for disadvantaged youth in Napa Valley. With your help in supporting our event, we are hoping to allow at least 100 of Napa's neediest youth the experience of shopping for holiday gifts for their immediate family members with some of "Napa's finest'. Many of these youth have not experienced the joy of giving unconditionally.
Our second goal through this event is to change perceptions. Now more than ever perceptions of law enforcement personnel must be changed. Current events have left the most vulnerable youth with a less than favorable impression of law enforcement personnel. We hope you join us at this fabulous event!
