NAPA VALLEY OPERA HOUSE LAUNCHES NEW FUND-RAISING PROGRAM OVATION 2010 raises $75,000 in first three days
Anyone who has been in the audience at the Napa Valley Opera House knows what a great feeling it is to stand and applaud an exceptional performance. Defined as "a sustained and enthusiastic show of appreciation from an audience, especially by means of applause," an ovation is what we strive for at every performance, program and event. To ensure these ovations continue, the Opera House board of trustees and staff have created a year-long fund-raising program titled "Ovation 2010." This program is being kicked off by the "Take a Seat" campaign, providing three levels of support, including the ability to purchase a seat in the Margrit Mondavi Theatre.
Just in its first three days of inception, the "Take a Seat" program has sold thirty seats and raised $75,000 for the Napa Valley Opera House. Information about this program, including an updated seating chart and the ability to donate online is available at www.NVOH.org/ovation.
The economic conditions of the past two years have challenged all of us, simultaneously imperiling many nonprofit arts organizations. To address these challenges responsibly, we at the Opera House have made drastic changes in recent months, including a reduction of non-programming expenses by 35%. Having made those difficult choices, we now need the support of the community and our audience members more than ever to ensure the ovations continue for years to come.
The "Take a Seat" campaign - running from March 1 to April 30, 2010 - provides the opportunity for an individual, couple or family to own a tangible stake in the continued success of the Opera House. Levels of support are as follows:
