Montalvo Arts Center will present The Ultimate Queen Celebration as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Garnering 13 million views on his YouTube cover of "Somebody to Love," Marc Martel not only sounds dead-on like Freddie Mercury, but also embodies the heart-and-soul Freddie poured into every song. Handpicked by Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May, Marc Martel will take on lead vocals for this Queen tribute featuring dozens of songs that Queen made famous, including "Killer Queen," "Radio Gaga," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and more. The Ultimate Queen Celebration will be presented at 7:30pm, Thursday, November 15 at the Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. For tickets ($64 Reserved, $68 Premier) or more information, the public may visit www.montalvoarts.org or call 408-961-5858.
Martel comes to the role after recording and touring the globe with Canadian rockers Downhere. His career took a surprise turn when he was invited to participate in a contest spearheaded by the actual members of Queen. Martel submitted a version of "Somebody to Love" in 2011, which not only won him the contest but also accumulated 30 million YouTube and Facebook views and led to an appearance on "The Ellen Degeneres Show." It launched Martel's own Queen tribute show, The Ultimate Queen Celebration, which tours all over the world.
