Berkeley Rep today announced that celebrated director Mira Nair will hold a free public event to discuss the creation of the world premiere musical, Monsoon Wedding. Audiences eager for the world premiere can get a sneak peek behind the scenes at Page to Stage on Monday, May 15 at 8pm. Page to Stage is free and open to the public but you must RSVP. Monsoon Wedding is the perfect storm that starts brewing when family members from around the world descend on Delhi for a nonstop four-day celebration of an arranged marriage between a modern upper-middle-class Indian family's only daughter and an Indian-American guy she's never met. But the bride is having an affair, her father's financial troubles deepen, and dark family secrets surface. The forecast calls for drama, love, hope, laughs, and a whole lot of rain. Previews begin Friday, May 5, 2017 and the show runs through Sunday, June 25, 2017. Press night for Monsoon Wedding will be Friday, May 19, 2017.
