Marin Theatre Company to Host GALA 50! to Benefit New Play and Educational Programs

Marin Theatre Company has announced its 50th Anniversary Season benefit Gala 50! On With the Show! on Saturday, March 18, 2017. This year, MTC will be celebrating 50 years of classic, challenging and new, envelope-pushing theatre and performing arts right here in Marin County.

The gala will take place at the Mill Valley Community Center, featuring a delectable catered sit-down dinner courtesy of Stacy Scott Fine Catering, and moments of delight with MTC artists and luminaries. Specially procured exclusively for MTC, the live and silent auction items and experiences will be up for bid throughout the evening-including tickets to Hamilton and a backstage tour with one of the actors in San Francisco-in addition to a carefully curated wine auction.

This annual sell-out event attracts over 200 prominent community members, corporate professionals and philanthropic leaders from throughout the Bay Area, raising critical funds for the organization. Gala 50! is co-chaired by Tracy Haughton and Kathleen Taylor, with Bobbie and Dave Chapman as Wine Auction Chairs, and with the assistance of committee members Linden Berry, Cheryl Brandon, Suzanne Darley, Kipp Delbyck, Molly Dick, Diana Gay-Catania, Susan Holdstein, Lori Lerner, Stacy Scott and Suparna Vohra, D.D.S. Gala 50! In addition, MTC will be honoring those individuals who have made a significant impact on MTC.

Marin Theatre Company is committed to exploring and developing new work for the American theater, supporting playwrights with their creative process from conception to production and engaging audiences with the best contemporary new plays. Through multiple programs, MTC seeks out writers and champions projects for continued life on the MTC stage and beyond. With our commissioning program, new play prizes, new play series of staged readings, playwright residencies and a commitment to world premiere productions, MTC promotes the future of the American theater.

Marin Theatre Company's education programs reach more than 12,000 youth each year with in-school teaching residencies, student matinee performances and in-theatre instruction and year-round camps and workshops. Through the Artist in Residency program MTC is able to provide both MLK Jr. Academy in Marin City and Davidson Middle School in San Rafael with theatre education uniquely planned in coordination with curriculum and the needs of the schools. At the MLK Jr. Academy, MTC's theatre education through the Artist in Residency program is the only arts education provided to students.

All proceeds benefit MTC's new play and educational programs.
