ABOUT LASSO OF TRUTH

National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere

By Carson Kreitzer | Directed by Jasson Minadakis

Featuring Lauren English, Jessa Brie Moreno, John Riedlinger, Nicholas Rose & Liz Sklar

Known for her "muscular and sharp" (CityBeat) writing, Kreitzer traces the origin story and lasting impact of the comic character Wonder Woman through the life of her controversial creator, William Moulton Marston. The early 20th-century psychologist and father of the modern lie detector modeled his superheroine on two women - his wife and his former student - both of whom he lived with in a polyamorous relationship.

In this inventive multimedia theatrical experience that combines live action with comic book illustration and animation, a contemporary young woman looks back and questions the knotty history behind the worldwide feminist icon.

Directed by MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis, who recently directed the hit play The Whipping Man and won the 2010 San Francisco Bay Area Theater Critcs Circle Award for directing Bill Cain's Equivocation.
