Marin Shakespeare Company continued its exploration of lesser-known Shakespeare plays this season presenting the Bard's quirky, romantic comedy "All's Well That Ends Well." Helena loves Bertram -but, Bertram's "just not that into her" in what is considered one of Shakespeare's "problem plays."
Robert Currier directs this witty production featuring Carla Pauli as Helena and Adam Magill as Bertram. The cast also features
Scott Coopwood as Lafeu, Heather Cherry as Widow of Florence, Luisa Frasconi as Diana, James Hiseras as Parolles, Lucas McClure as Lavatch,
Jessica Powell as Countess of Rousillon and
Jack Powell as King of France.
One of Shakespeare's popular comedies was reinvented by Marin Shakespeare Company with a country-western musical adaptation. "A Comedy of Errors," adapted and directed by Lesley and
Robert Currier, is set in Texas in this new irreverent, tuneful, knee-slapping production about luckless cowboys caught up in a comic adventure of mistaken identity and romantic love.
"A Comedy of Errors" features original tunes written by Leslie Harlib and stars
Jon Deline as Dromio and
Patrick Russell as Antipholus.
Hayley Adams, Daniel Boarman, Alan Kendall, Jiawen Liang, Regan Lopez and Antonio Perez de la Cruz round out the cast.
The outdoor summer Shakespeare festival at Dominican University's Forest Meadows Amphitheatre was reestablished in 1989, after a group of Marin County Shakespeare enthusiasts strived to present the drama, poetry and fun of Shakespeare to Marin and North Bay audiences.
Robert Currier and
Lesley Schisgall Currier were hired to create the "new" Marin Shakespeare Company. In the last 24 years the professional theater company has presented critically acclaimed and award-winning productions and received several special awards and accolades from North Bay publications including Marin Magazine, Pacific Sun and The Bohemian.
Tickets for "All's Well That Ends Well" and "A Comedy of Errors" can be reserved in advance or purchased at the door. The Marin Shakespeare Company offers discounted ticket options including "Pay Your Age" for adults 20 to 37-years old.
The Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, located at 890 Belle Avenue, Dominican University of California, San Rafael, Calif., opens one hour prior to show time for picnicking. Audiences are encouraged to bring picnics or purchase snacks at the Theatre Cafe. Warm clothing, jackets and blankets are recommended for evening performances. Parking is free.
