This summer the Marin Shakespeare Company sets its outdoor stage with revenge, wild west wrangling and one of the Bard's wittiest comedies as they present "The Spanish Tragedy," a new country-western adaptation of "A Comedy of Errors" and "All's Well That Ends Well."
The summer season begins with previews on July 5 and continues with performances (presented in repertory) through Sept. 29, 2013.
The festival begins with a "Pay What You Will" preview Friday, July 5 of Thomas Kyd's "The Spanish Tragedy," directed by Lesley Schisgall Currier. The first Elizabethan revenge tragedy, "The Spanish Tragedy" was the rage of the Elizabethan stage, hugely popular and widely performed. This riveting tale is credited as the inspiration for Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" and "Hamlet." Written sometime between 1582 and 1592, Marin Shakespeare presents the West Coast premiere - after only 430 years.Photo Credits: Steven Underwood
