North Bay Stage Company brings the classic Broadway musical Man of La Mancha to the stage at Luther Burbank Center's Carston Cabaret stage July 21 - Aug 6, 2017. A public reception, with an opportunity to meet the cast and crew, will be held on opening night.
Directed by Les Pfutzenreuter, this winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical, never fails to enchant audiences with its lyrical and musical mastery. The epic story of knight-errant Don Quixote, his servant Sancho and the woman of his dreams come to life in this classic production. Set in the time of the Spanish Inquisition, the tale tells of a knight who embarks on a romantic and noble journey to win the heart of a good woman and to capture "The Impossible Dream." Based on Miguel de Cervantes' classic book Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha has been deemed as one of the all-time great musicals of the American stage. The show features a treasure trove of some of the greatest songs to come out of Broadway, including "Dulcinea," "I'm Only Thinking of Him," "I Really Like Him" and the anthemic "The Impossible Dream." Man of La Mancha is a remarkable show and one of the great theatre works of our time.
"There's drama, a bit of comedy moments as well with a feel-good score that makes you want to stand up and sing," says Les Pfutzenreuter, director of the production. "The simple set surroundings and live musicians performing is going to sound and look great, with a mixture of cabaret seating amongst the action."
