In its first event celebrating the short story, Lucky Penny received over three dozen submissions from writers in Solano, Sonoma, and Napa counties. A panel selected eleven representative stories to be dramatically read by actors in front of a live audience on Sunday June 12 at 2 PM.
Dan Monez, producer of the event and Lucky Penny's Vice President said, "The short story is one of the most difficult and interesting genres to master." "In just a few pages, the author has to create a complete story with characters the reader can see, hear, and feel." "The live audience will have the added experience of having trained actors perform each story and bring them to life!"
The finalists are:
"Sub", by Jan Flynn, St. Helena
"Spare the Rod", by Cristina Goulart, Santa Rosa
"Don't Get Me Wrong", by Patsy Ann Taylor, Napa
"Into the Box" and "Hurtling Jade", by Jean Wong, Kenwood
