Los Altos Stage Company (LASC) and The City of Los Altos Recreation & Community Services Department are pleased to announce a new partnership wherein LASC will manage the City's longstanding drama program for local children and teens, the Los Altos Youth Theatre (LAYT). Beginning in 2018, LASC will organize and produce three LAYT shows each year, starting in March with the stage adaptation of the classic children's fantasy adventure, The Phantom Tollbooth (auditions will take place in early January; email jillian@losaltosstage.org for more information).

Jillian Toby-Cummings, LASC's Education Director, will lead this new partnership as Director for LAYT. Jillian has a storied history with the program, beginning at age 8, when she debuted in an LAYT production of The Wizard of Oz. After graduating high school, Jillian went on to direct and choreograph dozens of LAYT shows. Jillian's mother, Laura Toby, was the production manager and later Co-Artistic Director for LAYT for 12 years. She and Jillian worked alongside each other on many productions during that time. Most recently, Jillian directed LAYT's production of Snow White and the Prince and the joint LASC/LAYT summer musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Working closely with Recreation & Community Services, Los Altos Stage Company will continue the long LAYT tradition of providing high quality play production opportunities for local families. We are all thrilled to be a part of this new joint venture, and with Jillian at the helm, we will work hard to meet and hopefully exceed the expectations of the children and families that make up the LAYT community.
Los Altos Stage Company and Recreation & Community Services will host a Meet & Greet on Tuesday, November 14 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm at the Bus Barn Theater for any families interested in getting to know Jillian or getting additional information regarding this new partnership.
