The Los Altos Stage Company's 19th anniversary season opens with a caustic musical fable ripe with adultery, hysterical pregnancy, strippers, murderous ex-boyfriends, Costco, and the Ice Capades. The Great American Trailer Park Musical opens September 4 and runs through September 28 at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.
With music and lyrics by David Nehls and book by Betsy Kelso, The Great American Trailer Park Musical is a delicious Broadway musical comedy jam-packed with big hair and raucous fun, all set in the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park in Starke, Florida. Experience the "other side of the tracks" with tollbooth collector Norbert, his agoraphobic wife Jeannie, and Pippi, a stripper on the run with a heart of gold. The three are soon engulfed in a love triangle that is narrated by a delightfully trashy trio acting as the show's Greek chorus. "The Girls" invite the audience into a world full of Astroturf, road kill, spray cheese, and pure, unadulterated enjoyment.
The Great American Trailer Park Musical was performed as part of the inaugural New York Music Theater Festival in 2004 and opened off-Broadway at Bows at Dodger Stages in 2005. The Los Altos Stage Company's production is directed by Linda Piccone, veteran actress and director whose work has been enjoyed by audiences across the Bay Area.
The production features a talented ensemble of Bus Barn Theater veterans, as well as a few new faces, including:
Vanessa Alvarez as Betty
Mylissa Malley as Linoleum "Lin"
Christina Bologninias Donna "Pickles"
Jen Wheatonfox as Jeannie Garstecki
Aaron Hurley as Norbert Garstecki
Courtney Hatcher as Pippi
